Less than two weeks ago, NBA Superstar Devin Booker returned home to Moss Point to retire his number 2 Tigers jersey in the rafters.
Today, the next generation of great talent to come out of the River City, Jamarious Brown using that same gym on National Signing Day.
This morning, Brown is doing the honors with Ole Miss, making him the second Moss Point player to sign with the Rebels in as many years following in the footsteps of wide receiver Larry Simmons.
The one they call ‘JB,’ another four-star recruit, playing both sides of the ball as a senior, but heading to Oxford as a d-lineman.
On offense, Brown accounted for nearly 500 yards from scrimmage and 11 touchdowns. On defense, he led the team with five sacks and three forced fumbles.
Brown was also a Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game selection, ready to show out all over again in Oxford. “I’m just thankful and ready to get started. They just said I was a dog. They’re just like family, man. You get up there. They treat you just like at home. I just listened to my coach and my coach guided me there and he got me to where I needed to be. I’ve got to go back out there and put back on just like I did in high school. Hotty Toddy!”
Over the course of his four-year varsity career, Brown logged 293 total tackles, 45 of those for loss, 13 forced fumbles, seven recovered, and 16 sacks.
